Song Description

This is a collection of 5 songs that flow one into another. Songs of Praise will lift up your spirit, and move you to dance. The lyrics are easy to sing along. It has short choruses which you can join to sing after a cantor leads the verse. Also, the Njang (afro) beats tune is lively.

Several interludes are long enough to give you space, so that you can include your own interjections and praises. Thus, Songs of Praise becomes a prayer, while you enjoy the music.

Nsay ki la composed it in 2011. The Virtual Chorale performed it ten years later, and Dijay Kay mixed and mastered it.

About Songs of Praise

Songs of Praise is collection of five songs is intended to help anyone to give praise to God. Many people love to praise God in song. However, they often do not find the right words. Fortunately, the words in this song are easy to learn and sing along.

In addition, people from different Christian denominations will find the lyrics comfortable. This includes Catholics, who, despite their love for such songs and tunes, often meet with the ones that have problematic theology.

Context of the Inspiration

Songs of Praise was composed by Nsay ki la back in October of 2011. Fr Ernest Timchia, then chaplain of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement in the Archdiocese of Bamenda and lecturer in Saint Thomas Aquinas’ Major Seminary (Bambui – Cameroon), had requested a composition of songs of praise and worship.

And there was a reason for this request. The Catholic Charismatic groups are always in need of these songs. The truth is that there are many of such songs available. But the problem is that they are mostly good in melody, but wanting in the lyrics (wordings).

The idea was to write songs that are sweet to sing, and also have the desirable theology for Catholics. Such songs would equally be appealing even to non-Catholics.

A Meeting of Melody and Theology

At the time of writing this collection of songs, Nsay ki la himself was active in the Charismatic Renewal. He, therefore, had an experience, but of the lack, and of the desired outcome.

This is why Songs of Praise can easily be described as a meeting of melody and theology. And so, anyone will really feel comfortable singing and praying along. And this is because the melody is easy and sweet, while the content is sound and profound.

Feeling and Style

Songs of Praise gives a pleasant, joyful feeling. It is performed by the Virtual Chorale. Their voices give that choir effect which makes you feel part of a larger community joined in praise. Yet the interludes in the song leave room for you to personalize it, and insert your own praise.

The style is characteristic of Nsay ki la, who produced the song. It is lively enough to get you up to your feet. These Njang afrobeats will lead you to join in clapping your hands and singing to each chorus. The pleasantness of it is completed by the mixing and mastering of the song by Dijay Kay.
